  • Hybrid
    • Amsterdam, Noord-Holland, Netherlands
  • Spinnin' Records

As Head of A&R, you lead the global creative vision, bridging the gap between talent discovery, elite team mentorship, and the long-term commercial success of our entire artist roster.

Job description

For WMG’s label Spinnin' Records, we are looking for an experienced Head of A&R.

Spinnin’ Records is the world's leading dance music label, with artists such as Tiësto, Cyril, David Guetta, KREAM, Alok, KSHMR, Lucas & Steve, Gabry Ponte, and many more on its roster. We specialize in electronic music and manage the largest online dance community in the world, with more than 12 million followers across social media. In addition, we have our own YouTube channel, Spinnin' TV, counting more than 30 million subscribers and over 18 billion views. We are an international company and offer you a unique opportunity to contribute to our journey and join our team.

About the Role

The Head of A&R is the senior creative and strategic leader who holds accountability for leading the Spinnin’ A&R team and representing the label's global A&R interests. This pivotal role requires a mentor at heart to serve as a hands-on leader, responsible for identifying, scouting, and signing exceptional musical talent while driving long-term artist development for both newcomers and established stars. Beyond scouting, the Head of A&R develops future-facing business strategies to grow the business and oversees the A&R budget, unproven advance spend, and individual P&Ls. Acting as a fierce advocate and "fighter" for their roster and immediate team, the Director bridges the gap between creative vision and commercial success, collaborating cross-functionally with senior management and the Artist Key team to maximize market impact.

Job requirements

Key Responsibilities:

  • Strategic Oversight: Develop and execute future-facing business strategies focused on growing the label, collaborating closely with the Senior Management Team and presenting annual roster updates.

  • Team Leadership: Lead, motivate, inspire, and mentor the Spinnin’ A&R team; conduct bi-weekly one-on-ones, oversee professional training and development, and drive performance reviews.

  • Talent Acquisition & Development: Identify, scout, and sign the next wave of exceptional musical talent while managing long-term career strategies for both breakthrough newcomers and established stars.

  • Financial Management: Oversee the complete A&R budget, including the Unproven Advance Spend and the individual P&Ls for each A&R Manager, ensuring alignment with commercial goals.

  • Cross-Functional Collaboration: Partner closely with the Artist Key team—specifically the Marketing, Marketing Services, and Creative departments—to align creative vision with commercial execution.

  • Creative Advocacy: Actively travel, visit recording studios, and conduct external meetings to foster talent, while acting as a dedicated advocate and "fighter" for the artist roster.

About you:

  • Experience: Proven senior-level leadership experience within A&R, with a track record of scouting, signing, and delivering continuous commercial success with artists.

  • Leadership & Mentorship: Exceptional ability to lead, inspire, and develop a high-performing creative team, with experience conducting structured performance reviews and talent development.

  • Business & Financial Acumen: Strong strategic mindset with experience managing complex creative budgets, unproven advance allocations, and department P&Ls.

  • Industry Relations: Deeply embedded in the global electronic and dance music landscape, with an extensive network of artists, producers, studios, and industry partners.

  • Collaboration Skills: Excellent communication and cross-functional skills, with the ability to bridge creative talent development with marketing and corporate business strategies.
